Angola: Aalsida Supplies HIV/Aids Prevention Materials

The Angolan Association of Fight Against Aids (AALSIDA) in eastern Moxico province Wednesday supplied Hiv prevention materials to youths attending the 5th edition of the Military Games taking place since October this year in Luena.

The donation that is part of the programme of fight against Hiv/Aids and sexually transmitted diseases includes two kits of condoms and mosquito nets.

At the handover ceremony, the coordinator of the military physicians team deployed at the "Olympic Village", col. Bonga Francisco, thanked the move and highlighted the importance of condoms in the prevention of Hiv and other diseases.

Meanwhile, AALSIDA supervisor, Paulo Jones, said that 178 cases of Hiv have been diagnosed since January to the present, from 4,436 people who joined the counselling and volunteer testing centre in Luena.

He said his organisation is rallying with partners for funds for projects of prevention and propagation of the disease.

There are eight counselling and volunteer testing centres in Moxico province, six of which in the capital city, Luena.
